Enter marks
Question-level marks are what power Ampil's topic analysis. The recommended way to collect them is for pupils to submit their own marks; this screen is for you to override those entries — correcting a pupil's marks, or entering them on a pupil's behalf when they haven't submitted. Once you've chosen a class and an assessment, you can type marks in directly or import them from a spreadsheet.
Entering marks by hand
The manual grid lists pupils down the side and questions across the top. Enter each pupil's mark for each question, up to the marks available for that question. Leave a cell blank if a pupil didn't attempt it — a blank means "no mark", not zero. When you save, all the marks go in together as one batch, so either everything saves or nothing does.
Importing from a CSV
If you already have marks in a spreadsheet, switch to the CSV import tab and drop your file in. Ampil matches each row to a pupil by their student ID and shows a preview:
- rows that matched an existing pupil,
- rows for pupils not yet on the roster,
- rows it couldn't read (for example, a mark above the maximum).
Check the preview, which also shows whether each mark is new or replacing an existing one. If there are any errors you'll need to fix them before committing; a clean import saves in one batch.
After saving
Your marks feed straight into the markbook, reports and pupils' dashboards. Record each pupil's overall score on the Totals screen too, as a check that the question-level marks add up and as a fallback where a pupil hasn't submitted.
