Year-group markbook

The year-group markbook shows every pupil in a year group in one grid, regardless of set, so you can compare across the whole cohort and identify pupils who need attention.

Reading the grid

Choose a year group. Each row is a pupil, with columns for their set, prior-attainment score, current ranking, effective total, grade and residual — the gap between their prior ranking and where they rank now. A large negative residual points to a pupil underperforming relative to their starting point.

Sorting and filtering

Sort by any column to reorder the cohort — for example by residual to surface underperformers — and use the per-column filters to focus on a grade band or a range of residuals. Long cohorts are paginated.

Read-only

Like the teacher markbook, this view is read-only: marks are entered by teachers. For set-level comparison and year-on-year trends, see Analyse data.
