Topic mappings

Mappings are what connect marks to meaning. By linking each question to the scheme-of-work topics it tests, you let Ampil report performance topic by topic. A second kind of mapping links your topics to shared national topics for cross-school analysis.

Mapping questions to topics

On the assessment tab, choose a subject and a test, then map each question to one or more topics in the scheme of work. A question can cover several topics, and a topic can be tested by several questions. Add or remove these links as your tests and schemes evolve.

Binding topics to national topics

On the scheme-of-work tab, link your scheme's topics to suggested national topics for the subject. Pick the relevant national subject to see suggestions, then add or remove links. These bindings let Ampil place your results in a wider context.

Why it matters

Without question-to-topic mappings, RAG-by-topic analysis in teacher reports and on pupil dashboards can't be produced. It's worth completing the mappings whenever you add or change a test.
