Ranking, grading and final check
Rank pupils, allocate grades against a profile, and sign off the results.
Ranking, grading and final check
These editors are the heart of an assessment window. You reach them from the window's checklist. They take a year group from raw scores to a set of agreed, signed-off grades in three stages.
Ranking
Pick which tests the ranking should be based on — by default the window's own assessments, but you can choose others from the year group. Ampil computes an initial order, and you can reorder pupils by hand, viewing their scores side by side to inform your decision. Save the ranking when you're happy. If there isn't enough data to rank fairly, Ampil tells you.
Allocating grades
Choose a grade profile — the percentages of pupils expected in each grade band — and Ampil fits it over the ranking to produce a live preview of grades. If teacher rank checks are part of the window, you can see which classes have been checked before you commit. Save to apply the grades. You can step back to re-edit the ranking at any point.
Final check
The final check shows the ranked, graded cohort together: each pupil's set, ranking, score, allocated grade, any teacher flag and any comment. Adjust grades where a teacher has flagged one or where you've reordered pupils, edit comments, and then save. Saving the final check locks in the grades and marks the window complete.
