Grade profiles

Define the percentage of pupils expected in each grade band.

Grade profiles

A grade profile describes how a cohort's grades should be distributed — for example, what percentage of pupils should get each grade. Leaders fit a profile over a ranking to allocate grades during an assessment window.

Creating a profile

Choose a year group, then create a profile with a name and a set of percentile bands. Each band has a grade name and the percentage of pupils it should hold. The running total is shown as you go and must reach 100% before you can save.

Editing a profile

Open a profile to add or remove bands and adjust their names or percentages. The 100% rule is checked as you edit and again when you save, so a profile always adds up.

Deleting a profile

Remove a profile you no longer need. Profiles are applied by leaders when allocating grades, so make sure a profile isn't in active use before deleting it.
