Getting started

Signing in and finding your way around Ampil.

Getting started

This guide covers signing in and finding the area of the app that matches your role.

Signing in

Go to the login page and enter your email and password, or use Sign in with Google if your account is linked. New staff receive an email invitation with a link to set their password before they can sign in for the first time.

Forgotten your password? Choose Forgot password on the login page and we'll email you a secure link to set a new one. See the FAQ if the email doesn't arrive.

Students usually join a subject first — see Join a subject.

Where to go after signing in

After you sign in, Ampil sends you to the home area for your role:

StudentYour dashboardSee your results, targets and revision.
TeacherTeaching toolsEnter marks and review your classes.
LeaderLeadership toolsAnalyse year groups and run assessment windows.
AdminSetup dashboardConfigure subjects, classes, tests and users.

Finding your way around

Most screens follow a selection funnel: you pick a subject, then a class, then an assessment, and the page updates to match. Your last choice is remembered, so you don't have to reselect it every time you return.

How marks get into Ampil

It's worth knowing how results flow, whatever your role:

  • Students submit their own marks question by question — this is the recommended, primary way results are recorded. See Submit feedback.
  • Teachers record each pupil's total as a verification step (a check the question marks add up) and as a fallback where a pupil hasn't submitted. See Totals.
  • Teachers override marks on the Enter marks screen when something needs correcting or a pupil hasn't entered their own.

Your account

Use the Profile page at any time to change your password or manage how you sign in. When you're ready, browse the help pages for your role in the menu on the left.
